Bathroom Fixtures
I'm looking for a source for good bathroom fixtures/furniture in the east bay. I need a vanity, sink and toilet.
I've tried the big boxes (hd, lowes, yardbirds), but I don't care for the styles available. (Who makes the design decisions for these places? Who decided that everyone must have oak cabinets with brass hardware?)
I need a 5ft vanity and top. I really like the look of a bowl on top of the counter. (Also, our family is tall and this will help with stooping.)
And does anyone have an answer as to why toilets these days have what I call "intestines" on the outside? You can see the looping of the flow of water

I'm getting ready to do the bathroom and have purchased a beautiful slipper tub (reproduction) and matching pedistal sink both with gorgeous brass fixtures.
Here is my question: In terms of getting the ROI for this renovation, will it matter (+/-) when I go to sell if I've done a nice "period" bath renovation with subway tile and claw foot tub or a "modern" renovation with built-in tub/shower and vanity.
Any realtors, appraisers, or opinionated lurkers out there?

The bulk of our renovation funds will be going to be going to remodeling our bathrooms, which are in serious need of a remodel due to unsightly tile grout, old fixtures and unattractive vanity colors. Personally I would chose to give the cupboards a fresh coat of paint, some new updated hardware (including hinges) and a mid range new countertop..maybe a silestone or corian. The look and age of your appliances will make a huge cosmetic difference too as many people cannot see past such things. As you stated, your home will brings in around 17 top, so I would not spend much moneyhigh end products cost a lot of money that cannot always be recouped in all situations.
